Small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, Bitty from Curious Sound Objects is a handheld synthesizer, drum machine, and general sound device with a built-in speaker for experimental music fun anywhere you go. Easily reprogrammed with the Bitty software app for Mac and Windows computers, there are a number of different melodic, harmonic, and percussive instruments to choose from to turn Bitty into variety of quirky sound gadgets. Regardless of the mode you choose, Bitty is incredibly easy to use: the four square keys will trigger or play some sort of sound, and the two knobs affect parameters. There are often secondary functions available by tapping the two buttons at the bottom, while the power and speaker switches may be found on either side of Bitty. And for when you can’t or shouldn’t disturb your friends in the room with you, you can use headphones with Bitty’s audio output—or pipe it into a PA or speaker system for even more volume.
