The Blipbox SK2 from Playtime Engineering is an advanced, fun, wavetable synth apt for sound design and to inspire younger generations to explore synthesis. With the same synth engine as the Blipbox After Dark, the SK2 features a multi-mode filter, multi-tap stereo delay, over 100 pitch-shifting drum samples, and 400 built-in sequences. While it looks like a toy, the Blipbox SK2 can be as serious as you want with many of the same features as a standard synths: two LFOs, PWM, hard sync, an additional modulation envelope, and even a randomize button to flip the table for something completely new. There’s even a 3×3 mod matrix that lets you route the LFOs or Mod EG to two different modulation points for the oscillator or filter cutoff.
