Korg Electribe S 2 (Red)
The Korg Electribe S1 is a brand new update of an old classic. Nearly ten years after the original Electribe SX sampler was released, Korg has redesigned and rereleased what is sure to be another staple piece of gear. Utilizing similar technology such as that found in the Kaossilator, Kaoss Pad, and KingKORG, Korg has created another beast that can save up to 250 patterns specially geared towards the modern dance scene. Additionally, the sampler can store up to 999 presets and user loaded samples, with a maximum 270 seconds of sampling time.
The unit features sixteen pads that allows users to quickly and effectively build patterns, using the pads either as traditional pads or more as keyboard keys. The pads can record various phrases in realtime, or modulate parameters in realtime. The Electribe S2 also borrows the “touch scale” function from the Kaossilator that hard syncs the internal quantizer so that users can play freely without fear of hitting a wrong note.
If all that wasn’t enough, parts of the unit are also the result of extensive collaboration between Korg and Ableton. This means that the Electribe S2 can save and export patterns in accordance with Ableton Live’s standard format. Individual sections and entire patterns can be saved as either scenes or clips in Ableton Live, offering an even more tactile and intuitive workflow for both the studio and stage.
