Manikin Electronic’s Memotron is a loving re-envisioning of a classic keyboard, the Mellotron. The Mellotron’s tone is unmistakeable—its tape-based sound playback system provided flutes for the Beatles, strings for King Crimson, and countless other sounds across classic rock and prog records. As such, the Mellotron is just as beloved and sought after as vintage pedals, amp cabinets and synthesizers—but of course, like these other pieces, it is expensive to acquire, and expensive to maintain. Manikin Electronic’s Memotron is an ideal modern-day solution, painstakingly recreating the character of the original while adding modernisations that expand the instrument and keep it convenient and relevant, and practical in a modern production environment.

The Memotron features an authentic soundbank of tones expertly sampled from original Mellotron tapes. Up to 3 sounds can be used simultaneously to achieve new tones that original Mellotrons could never dream of! Also available are immediate controls for pan, volume, tone, tape speed, and frame, which is a style of preset-automation similar to the idea of a keyframe, holding a bank of settings that can be accessed anytime. An effects processor has also been added to the Memotron for instantanous on-board reverbs, delays, phasers and flangers, as well as distortions and tremolos!

The Memotron features a performance oriented keybed with an authentic feel, and pleasing aesthetic appearance that’s sure to stand the test of time, whether it be on stage or in the studio.

The Memotron Extended Edition includes all of the sounds of the standard Memotron (Basic Collection and Vintage Collection 1), but also adds the entirety of Manikin’s other Vintage Collection offerings—providing you with an enormous range of sounds. Even Pink Floyd and Moody Blues would be jealous.
