Landscape Noon

Landscape’s NOON is a passive analog drum machine that features eight channels with eight unique voices that can be tuned for percussion or melodic and experimental purposes. Each channel is a unique circuit that is designed to create a specific voice and has its own unique response time. All channels feature three sliders that control a main pitch or texture, a secondary pitch or texture, as well as the volume. Each channel also has a mute button and they can be linked together.

Each channel is divided into either odd or even outputs for separate processing and interesting stereo spatialization. You can also use the single Even output that has everything summed, plus each channel has an individual output. Each channel requires a trigger, gate, or steady stream of CV to get power, with a recommended range of 5v–12v. NOON is very sensitive and even subtle changes can have a dramatic effect. It should be noted that some CV sources do not provide enough current to power all NOON inputs. Most notably, the Korg SQ-64 and Torso T-1, but not all have been tested—currently the top recommendation is the BeatStep Pro and all Eurorack sources.

Channel 1 is called the Dot which is a saw-based voice and can achieve boomy kick tones with the MOD button engaged and the long slider all the way down. Channel 2 is the Dual and works great with short gates but can also process external audio from the input. Its core is a sine wave and you can get pinged filter sounds fairly easily. Channel 3, called Sys, also works great with short triggers and you can get wooden tom sounds with the MOD engaged. Channel 4 is Plast for textured, liquid tones. Channel 5 is Cympath, which brings you crumbling metallic textures and sonically is similar to Channel 6, Cyrinx. Channel 7 is Larynx, a vocaloid sounding voice that works best when patching CV signals into the channel, as opposed to gates of triggers. Channel 8, Bacid, is similar in that it likes CV for pitched material, but it can also create gnarly kick sounds with gate signals.

On top of all of this, Landscape is known for unique touching and NOON is no different with its golden touch plates on each channel, each CV input, and squiggly lines for audio, you can create strange modulation by simply touching a few plates and bridging the gap.
