Sequential Prophet 6

The Prophet 6 from Sequential is not just a reissue of one of the most coveted synthesizers in history, the Prophet 5. It is a wholly new beast, sharing only the most important thing, excellent sounding analog synthesis. The Prophet 6 has two redesigned discrete VCOs per voice, providing continuously variable waveshapes for maximum beef. With 12 oscillators in all there will be no shortage of richness in tone. Also included is a suboscillator for filling out the bass frequencies, not using the traditional square wave but instead a more tasteful and smooth triangle wave. The filter is inspired by the original Prophet-5 filter, with discrete circuitry, providing four-pole resonant lowpass cutoffs.

One important design specification that the Prophet 6 wanted to maintain is the one knob per parameter function, which prevents menu-diving and “woops” moments. With huge amounts of presets, one can quickly move between patches without having to adjust every knob.

Included in the new Prophet 6 is a bank of stereo effects, utilizing 24-bit, 48 kHz resolution. In has studio-quality delays (including standard and BBD), reverbs, chorus, and phase shifter. When bypassed, it maintains the fully analog signal path. A stereo distortion is also included that is full analog.

For pitch control, the Prophet 6 has built in arpeggiators and sequencers. The sequencer can program 64 steps (with 6 notes per step for chord sequencing.) The arpeggiation patterns can be adjusted from up, down, up-down, random, etc.

With a full size keyboard and semi-weighted keys, piano players will have an easy time transferring skills. It has velocity and aftertouch sensitivity and looks great on the stage or in the studio.
