Random Source Serge Resonant EQ

Resonant Equalizer by Random Source is a Eurorack adaptation of the legendary ten-band filter module designed by Serge Tcherepnin. As the equalizer was specifically designed for processing synthesized sounds, it contains a few unique features not found in any other piece of equipment. Two identical outputs provide the mix of all filter bands useful for parallel processing, while Comb 1 and Comb 2 outputs deliver the sums of the two alternate filter bands. It should be noted that moving any frequency knob will have a major effect on both Comb outputs.

Most of the frequency bands, except for the top and bottom ones, are spaced at major seventh interval. All the bands provide flat response when centered. When the knobs are moved counterclockwise the frequency bands get attenuated, moving the knobs clockwise boosts the frequencies. When the knob passes three o’clock the bands become markedly resonant, imitating natural resonance of acoustic instruments.

Resonant Equalizer has a dedicated two-channel mixer section, allowing for input signal to be amplified and even distorted before entering the EQ stage. Finally, there is a control for feedback amount accompanied by the phase-inversion switch, which allows for highly customizable feedback response.
